South Korea Casinos

South Korea’s casinos come in something of an odd scenario. While there are 14 of them and licences have already been issued for three more, only 1 of them is actually available to South Korean citizens. All the others are restricted to international nationals. As South Korea is not, despite certain attractions, referred to as a great tourist destination, this has meant most of the casinos running at 10% roughly of capacity.
Koreans themselves will be inveterate gamblers and lately there has been an explosion of online casinos in the Korean words, which the Government is busily attempting to close down. Addititionally there is extensive gambling on horse racing, sometimes actually bicycle racing along with other sports events, aswell. But despite this huge cultural predisposition to gambling, South Korea’s casinos will be hampered by the truth that only one of them is allowed to allow local citizens inside.

As well as these South Korea casinos, there are also horse racing tracks in Busan, Cheju City, and Seoul. Eight of South Korea’s casinos can be found on the vacation resort island of Chuju, as the other casinos are in the administrative centre and larger cities.
The South Korean Government is indeed keen to limit their citizens’ capability to gamble that not only does it, as above, make an effort to shut down Korean language online sites, it also attempts to block them from actually being seen inside the country. There have also been a number of attempts to make it illegal, or at the very least stop the practice of people using credits cards issued in South Korea to gamble somewhere else.
While South Korea’s casinos cannot, as above, allow the local citizens inside of to play (except for the reason that one case), this doesn’t stop gambling from basically going on. There are myriad illegal places from coast to coast where games can be played for money. It is also true that lots of take the short air travel to Macau, the ex-Portuguese colony, where gambling thrives. Finally, the richest ignore all the restrictions simply by going for a plane to Las Vegas.
